Japan Open Update August 22
The outlook is getting better for Japan
A few good bits of news coming out of Japan in the last few days for all our snow and ramen hungry friends from abroad. Still waiting for official conformation but here are a few things that may be a bit of music to your hears.
Click on the link for more details;
- PCR Covid tests on arrival to be dropped on the 7th of September
- Daily Arrival quota to be increased for 20,000 to 50,000 people a day
- Maybe most notable the Japanese Government is set to open the country to Unguided Tours so no Tour Conductor needed. This is not individual tourists yet and sounds like your trip needs to be booked with a travel agency who is then responsible for you on your stay but should give a lot more flexibility and make Japan a lot more accessible to most people.
- For those booked with Nozawa Holidays we are a registered Travel Agent in Japan so should be able to sort your visit which is great news. We will wait a little longer and see of things open further but will look at putting procedures in place for our guests if needed.
Japan Open Update August 22
Japan is naturally conservative so all good things take time but things appear to be finally moving in the right direction. The next steps hinges a lot on Japan downgrading Covid to a similar status to the flu. This will hopefully happen as the current wave of Corona recedes. This would allow life to return to normal in Japan.
This along with a return of overseas tourists would hopefully give the Japanese economy a much needed boost. Anyway the news is overdue and optimistic, hope it puts all our loyal guests mind at ease. Your ski trips just took a good step forward and all going well we look forward to seeing you on the slopes this Winter in Nozawa.
