Toumyo Matsuri, Winter Lantern Festival Tonight
Saturday the 4th of March
Live in the Hikage Slopes
Tonight is a special night in Nozawa Onsen since it is time for the annual Toumyo festival, also known as the “Lantern Festival”. The festivities will be held at the Hikage slope, starting at 7:00pm up until 9pm. It should be quite an enjoyable evening, with free sake, ice cream, live music and fireworks on the menu. Nozawa Onsen ski resort’s mascot, Naski, might even make an appearance.
You can walk thru town and then take the people mover (Yu Road) up to the Hikage slopes there will be a lot of people heading that way so just follow the crowds
Latern Festival Nozawa Onsen The Schedule is as follow
19:00 Start with Music and Local Rock Band
19:30 Big round of Paper Scissors Rock and can win some prizes. Followed by some Juggling performers
20:00 The Snow Groomers will put on a display
20:15 See the History of skiing in Japan with period outfits coming down the slopes
20;40 Flare run down the Hikage slope
21:00 Fire works display to finish the night
There will also be free Sake and Ice Creams for the kids. A great night out so be sure to come along. Will be clear skies so pretty cold be sure to rug up. See you there
