Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 7th January 2019
It’s not quite Groundhog Day just yet but today feels a little like yesterday if only because of the 20 centimetres of fresh snow we’ve been gifted up top. Again a lot more snow fell upon Mount Kenashi than was forecast. Not that we’re complaining, of course! It does make us continue to ponder what might happen tomorrow night, though. Right now, the forecast for Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning is well into double-digits and then some. The sun might poke through a little Thursday, a top-up Friday and then clear to kick off the weekend. Good times!
What is the top of the mountain looking like right now?
8 am –
Temp at the top; -8C
New snow since close 20cm
Base at the top; 230cm
Weather; snowing
All this snow we’ve been getting of late feels like a real blessing after a bit later start to the season. While there’s no shortage of happy faces enjoying the powder, it’s also a good time to remind everyone to stay safe. Even more confident skiers and boarders can find themselves in trouble if not safety conscious.
Those new to winter sports or those in need of a refresher might want to consider a lesson with a qualified instructor. Check out our lessons page for all the info you’ll need to get you sliding down the mountain safely and in style.
