Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 13th of March 2019
Another radiant spring day on the mountain yesterday. We’ve reached an interesting time in the season, ladies and gents. We’re getting some blue sky days, showered in sunshine, and a few days which are much different. There is snow on the forecast for the coming week. In fact, there could be quite a lot of it if things go our way. But that’s for the top of the mountain.
While we will probably see a few centimetres of fresh stuff at village level, much of it will be rain. That’s why it’s important to check back with us for the updated weather. If you look out the window and see rain, you may become disheartened. But we’re at that stage of the season where the temperatures in the village are often not quite cold enough. On top of Mount Kenashi, however, they are well and truly cold enough more often than not.
We should see a handful of snow on the mountain today. Perhaps even a bit in the village tonight. Let’s hope we get more than forecast as so often happens. Friday night is our most likely candidate for a big, “Magic March” dump. The exact numbers in terms of what we might be able to expect to wake up to Saturday morning keep changing each time the forecast is updated. But it is still in the double digits on each occasion. That could mean good things for the weekend!
The official word from the mountain? There was a dusting overnight. Hopefully a sign of bigger things to come.
