Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 28th of March 2019
Magic March keeps on bringing Nozawa Onsen spring snow! Powder days punctuating brilliant blue days, of course. What a spring this is turning out to be. The bonus at this time of year is that there’s plenty of powder to go around. There are typically very few people on the runs mid-week. It makes for a pretty good Thursday to be in Nozawa.
There was rain in the village overnight but up on the mountain, that fall was snow. As the village awoke this morning, we were blessed with snow in the village as well as up top. In fact, it continues to snow lightly now (as of 10:08 am). At the Yamabiko area, the official report shows 5 centimetres this morning, adding to the 15 cm overnight.
We may not see too much fresh stuff tomorrow but beyond that, things are looking great for spring. Temperatures are set to fall further bringing lots more snow with them over the coming week. With our season continuing right up until this year’s extra special Golden Week in early May, you’ve still got plenty of time to get up here. There won’t be too many people around plus lift tickets and accommodation are heavily discounted. Where else would you rather be?
So what’s the official word from the top of the mountain this morning?
