Just got back from the Ski show in Sydney and many people were concerned it was getting hard to find a bed in Nozawa in January. Sure some of the most popular lodgings are getting busy but there are still lots of great options.
Shinazawa is one of them, a beautifully kept lodge with views across the valley and right next to the shuttle bus stop. Here is a link https://www.nozawaholidays.com/properties/shinazawa-lodge-nozawa-onsen-village/
It is still only a 250m walk to the Karasawa lifts that connect to the main Nagasaka Gondola. Run by Mr. and Mrs. Shinazawa and their family, they work non-stop to ensure you have a terrific stay in Nozawa.
We have been introducing overseas guests there for many years now and everyone that stays there raves about the amazing food and terrific hospitality. Mrs Shinazawa works tirelessly to produce some amazing breakfasts and if you book in advance also dinners that are unbelievable value!
All the rooms have their own toilet and washbasin and there is a Japanese style bath in the lodge too. Spacious traditional Japanese Style Tatami rooms with futons and beautiful views.
It is just below Villa Nozawa so the bilingual staff there are always on hand to help with anything you should need. There are a few restaurants just near by too, Green Peas Italian, Tonkichi which specializes in Okonomiyaki and the new Play Spot with burgers and table tennis just over the road. Otherwise about an 800m flat walk to the center of the village and all the great bars and restaurants.
They are wide open in January still so just click on the above link to book or check out some more great options to stay in Nozawa.
