The Snow is back in Nozawa
It started to snow yesterday evening and by around 8pm when was heading for an Onsen was getting pretty heavy. Waking up to nice white scenes in the village this morning and still snowing pretty hard on and off. I can always tell about how much we have had before even looking out my window. If the neighbour is using his snow blower then it is 25cm plus, if hear the sound of the shovel scraping it was less. Was not a huge Siberian storm like dump last night so heard the shovel scrape this morning but a respectable 15cm for the top and still going strong. The good news is it should continue all day with brisk cold temps.

Yesterday was hard pack up top but softened up from below Uenotaira so the bottom runs like Challenger were good fun. The snow started up top late afternoon and things got cold so was a beautiful afternoon. A word of caution Grand Prix slope is closed, a few days back a Glide crack developed on the steepest part of the slope and a small avalanche appears to have taken place exposing the slope back to bare earth there. It will no doubt appear covered today but best to be avoided. The rest of the resort is totally fine and will be lots of fun with this fresh snow.
Good conditions today for skiing but also for visiting the Snow Monkeys, with the cold temps and snow falling there should be lots bathing in the Onsens.
