Snow November on the way for the coming week in Nozawa
Pretty wet and foggy in Nozawa today, and freezing level also a bit high, but next week is looking good! Temps are set to drop from Tuesday night and should snow all day Wednesday and Thursday with over 30cm expected to fall.
Freezing level will go below 1000m and even down in Tokyo was getting cold yesterday. Could this be the start of winter real?
Bit too early to say and depends what comes in behind this, there are a few low-pressure systems hovering over Japan still and think it will be unstable for a while yet.
The big question is will this fall be enough for the resort to open as were hoping to on the 26th of November? I think probably not but the word on the street is that they are now looking at a Saturday December the 3rd opening, which could easily be on the cards if the snow keeps going. Snow November is always a bonus anyway but think we should be ok for December on.
Ryuoo Ski Park Snow November
Nearby Ryuoo Ski Park are still hoping to open next weekend and have been using the Snow Makers to build up the base. We don’t have these in Nozawa as we usually have more than enough natural snow!
If they get these falls too then they may be a go and Ryuoo Park Resort is a bit higher with a top elevation of 1930m above sea level. Last year we went over there a bit before Nozawa opened and was lots of fun. If need to will get people across this year too if the they open earlier and people are keen for a slide. It is a pretty set up with a big Rope way that takes you up over 1000m vertical from top to bottom.

Anyway keep an eye on the updates and will let you know how it goes…
