Spring like days Nozawa
Oh yesterday, WHAT A DAY!
It was one of Nozawa Onsen’s best. A foot of fresh snow. A bluebird day with not a cloud to be seen!
My favourite part was skiing down the looping Forest Trail, seeing the horizon guarded by mountains and watching snow fairies twinkle and dance in the sunshine, camouflaged as snow falling from the pine trees. It’s an easy green run but offers some of the best views on the mountain.
The “Toru” for the Fire Festival were put up in town yesterday too. They are big decorated umbrella-like shrines and you can check them out behind Nozawa Central or near Oyu opposite Sakaya Ryokan before the famous Fire Festival on Sunday.
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts as another cold front looks to be rolling in by Sunday.

SNOW FORECAST:
The day heralds mostly clear and sunny skies! The morning cloud should burn off by the afternoon with another starry night ahead. Friday see the prevailing southerly winds pushing warmer air upon from Okinawa with a sunny morning getting covered by clouds u the evening. We may see some light rain which is very unseasonal. Hopefully wont last long and Saturday sees cloud cover increasing, temperatures dropping and snow starting to fall again by the evening, continuing on into Sunday and the new week ahead.
On the long range looks like another Siberian Super storm could grace our mountain range from the 21st of January just in time for the Chinese New Year skiers and boarders. Will have to wait and see.
Check back here tomorrow for the latest forecast.
