Nozawa Onsen has been a popular destination for travellers for hundreds of years and there is a very wide range of accommodation options in our little village. Ryokans are traditional style Inns or Hotels, they are generally quite upmarket and a higher price. Minshikus are a less expensive family run style, still traditional but less formal and in Nozawa are run by friendly local families that open their doors to guests from all over the world.
We work closely with lots of these Inns and guesthouses in the village and will try and introduce you to more of them in the next few months to help give you an idea of some of the terrific accommodation offerings in Nozawa when trying to decide where to stay for your next ski holiday.
Kirakusou is one of these lodges and Sato san and his family has been taking care of happy skiers for many years. Located just near the Karasawa Lifts and a nice short walk to town it is a terrific place to stay. They have a fireplace at the entry and a traditional Japanese Irori or fire pit in the living room. Large Japanese Tatami Mat rooms with terrific views and delicious breakfasts a great way to start the day.
Sato san is one of the Village dignitaries and involved with the Sodai which is the council of village elders that organizes the Festivals and many other important matters concerning the village so he is a wealth of information on Nozawa Onsen.
