Nice cold skiing conditions in Nozawa
Monday 9th of April 2018
Temp at Top: -2 degrees
Weather: Mixed bag maybe even some snow
Base at top: 195cm
Base at Uenotara station: 90cm
New snow since close: 5 cm
Yesterday was a terrific day on the slopes in Nozawa and nice and cold up top. Got a few ice cream headaches flying down Paradise slope. We had a few centimeters of fresh snow up top, which made for some fun. It got a bit crunchy in places but generally was fast and fun. The trees were doing the icy thing and the atmosphere was like a return to Winter.
Today looking like could be a similar day with the resort reporting another 5cm of fresh snow since close of lifts yesterday. The base line has actually jumped up by 5cm for the first time in a while. Temps are warmer than yesterday but still below zero up top and some more light snow expected tonight!
Looking ahead lots of sunny days on the cards and a bit of rain and string winds mixed in. Tomorrow should be a really nice one for sure though with lots of sunshine and light winds expected most of the day. The resort has now closed Uenotaira and Paradise lifts so for the beginners you are best to ski run 15 Bunabayashi under the Gondola and back to the mid station or all the way down the beginner trail to Hikage and bus back to the Nagasaka Gondola and back up. It is about an 8km run still so not bad for April. Stay safe stay warm and have a great day.
