More Snowstorms Coming Nozawa
WHAT A DAY yesterday was. One of the BEST powder days of the season. The powder smiles on the slopes are as big as the spray!
This is why we travel to Japan from all corners of the world – for Nozawa’s epic powder production factory!
You should have been here yesterday but honestly, today could be even better. The snow gods are working overtime with another “Magic Foot,” or 32cm of fresh powder overnight for Nozawa.
Today offers a slight relief from the consistent puking of snow we’ve had over the last few days. We’ve still woken up to fresh snow in the village and it’s continuing to fall right now as I write this while looking outside my window, rugged up and cosy inside near a heater.
The base has hit a new high of 320cm ! as doorways and windows start to get engulfed in the village.
TODAY:
Temperature at the top; -9 degrees on Yamabiko, -5 degrees on Uenotaira
New snow since yesterday; 32cm
Base at the top; 320cm
Snow conditions; Powder still on tap! It will be deep
Weather; Snowing lightly in the morning, easing in the afternoon.
LIFTS IN OPERATION: Same as yesterday.
RUNS OPEN: Same as yesterday.
SNOW FORECAST:
Today should see the sun gods fight back against the snow gods and win but no sign of the sun yet. Tomorrow and Saturday are looking like bluebird days. The weekends temperatures will jump up to around 5 degrees with the sunshine and Southerly wind change. Another Siberian snow storm is building to blow through Nozawa on Monday and Tuesday though, we could see up to another meter of fresh snow fall. Especially given the under prediction of the forecast for this last mega storm. The good times look set to continue in Nozawa, pack the snorkel and enjoy all this epic powder snow.
