April Heating Up in Nozawa
There’s been some really mixed bag weather of late in Nozawa Onsen. It brought us some rain, shine and a handful of snow. Today, however, there can be no doubt as for what’s in store!

This time yesterday it was a little gloomy and the rain had many of us in town looking for a different way to pass the time. Of course, many of us found an onsen, restaurant, bar, or even a quick trip for some fun at Round 1 in Nagano. Those who did go up said once the rain cleared up top at about 11:30, the skiing conditions were fantastic and there were no complaints. However, today there aren’t many questions to be asked. It’s more of a case of just get to the top of the mountain!
Another thing the folks mentioned yesterday which is typical of this time of year is how few people were around yesterday. Particularly on a weekday, there’s really not many to share the runs with. The bright, shiny days today, and those to come, may bring a few more out but it’s still relatively quiet. Which is great news when coupled with the fact that there still remains a fairly decent base to ski upon. Things are definitely heating up in Nozawa!
Speaking of heating up, we’ve had a few people asking about what to do in Nozawa Onsen beyond the ski season. As tourism to Japan increases there’s bound to be more people looking for that truly authentic Japanese experience. Let’s not tell too many people, shall we, but just quietly, Nozawa Onsen might be what they’re looking for…
