Spring Skiing Nozawa Japan
Relentless March just keeps on giving in Nozawa
Waking up to a massive 70cm of fresh snow overnight up at Yamabiko. Hitting a new peak base of the season of 310cm, smashing through the 3 meter mark for the first time this season! About 40cm down in town and all my elderly neighbour could say as we cleared her steps was – “It’s March”!
The snow should continue to fall lightly all day, ensuring a generous top-up of powder from the latest storm, setting the stage for another epic spring day which will feel like mid winter. Despite the white out conditions we saw yesterday afternoon, there were a few dedicated powder hounds that braved the storm! Today is going to be epic so get up there.
⛅️TODAY:
Temperature at the top: -9℃ at top of Yamabiko
New snow since yesterday: 70cm
Base at top: 310cm
Wind: 40km/h north westerly, decreasing throughout the day
Weather: Snowing with a crazy powder day

❄️ SNOW FORECAST:
Moderate snow fall this morning and continuing throughout the course of the day. About another 10 – 15cm set to fall during today depending on altitude on the mountain. Temperatures staying below 0 to -3 at the base with much lower temps further up. Expecting similar weather tomorrow with lighter snowfalls at all levels, will see some sun too. The weekend and early next week should see clearer weather, warmer temperatures with snow quality staying great throughout. For now get your best powder board ready and get up there, it should be deep up top. Enjoy and as always stay safe.
