Sun Snow Nozawa Onsen
Sun shining but Gondola on wind hold
It doesn’t happen very often in the season but today looks like the wind is strong and unfortunately blowing straight up the mountain and affecting the safety of the Gondola operation so there wont be any skiing today. We may get some snow later though. Tomorrow looks like the winds will ease and the sun will be back. So a good day to check out the Snow Monkeys or take a stroll around town today.
Here are some great day trips from Nozawa Onsen; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/news/5-easy-but-awesome-day-trips-from-nozawa-onsen/
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day down in the village as well as on top of the mountain at Yamabiko, great to wake up for sunrise while looking at the snowy mountains mixing with autumn colours of the forest. Wonderful feeling early season at the ski resort with nicely groomed slopes, didn’t need many layers during the day under the warm sunshine. But still cold at night. Great fun on the groomers up high, and not so many people to share it with.
🌄TODAY:

☃️SNOW FORECAST
It’s warming up a little bit over the next few days with quite clear skies, at the start of next week a few centimetres forecast for the top sections. Further away is not certain at this point, as weather forecasts can change a lot over time, but by the end of next week things look really promising for the proper start of the season, we may see up to a meter of fresh show from Friday the 15th into the weekend. Most importantly, this comes with cold temperatures, so we hope to see it fall all the way down in the village too.
