Golden Week in Nozawa
Sunny beginning to the weekend in Nozawa and a few people about for the start of the Golden Week holiday in Japan. Expecting a fairly quiet one with the corona situation. Traditionally the Golden Week has always been the last big hurrah of the Ski Season in Nozawa. The Golden Week is a collection of four national holidays within seven days. In combination with well placed weekends making it one of 3 big holiday periods in Japan. Check out more on it here; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/news/what-is-golden-week/
People from all parts of the country come to Nozawa and enjoy the beautiful nature of spring, festive feel in the village and the last of the skiing for the season.
Temp at the top; 12 degrees
New snow since close; 0 cm
Base at the top; 80 cm
Snow conditions; Spring skiing in the sun
Weather; Beautiful Sunny day but a change expected later
Crazy thing is the weather man is telling me we may get a little bit of snow up top tomorrow with temps dropping down below freezing level. Monday looking sunny and wouldn’t it be a great finale to wake up to some fresh turns! If there are no doubt will be very short lived. Anyway the good news is with 80cm of base remaining up top we should skate thru until close of lifts next Sunday May the 9th.
