Sunshine After Powder Days
Sunshine After Powder Days A bit of sun after the last few days of powder fun Great time to be in Nozawa, we have had an epic few days on the hill with this late February snow fall. Tuesday was amazing when the snow just kept falling and yesterday was just as good with plenty of powder up for grabs all over and amazing conditions under foot on the slopes. It snowed lightly most of the day and was nice and cold keeping everything fresh. Plenty of smiles sliding down the slopes all day. Was almost surprised to see the sun and blue skies this morning but the fair weather skiers will be revelling and it is going to […]

The skies over Nozawa Onsen remain mostly sunny, promising ideal conditions for the groomers. Cherry Blossoms in Matsumoto
Cherry Blossoms in Matsumoto Due to strong winds, the mountain is unfortunately closed today. The weather tomorrow is also expected to have some high winds, cloudy skies and chances of rain. The good news, however, is that the forecast estimates some snowfall on Saturday and Sunday! With Monday looking like it’ll be back to clear skies and sunny days again. In other good news, the cherry blossoms are currently in full bloom in the city of Matsumoto! Located just an hour and a half from Nozawa Onsen, Matsumoto is breathtaking this time of the year. Be sure to visit Matsumoto Castle and watch the sunset at Koboyama Park for an unforgettable experience. You can check out the best places to […]
Changes Japan Since Covid
Changes Japan Since Covid Has the world changed since Covid? Sure some things have changed and some stay the same. For many it has been over 2 years since you stepped on Japanese soil and snow and imagine you are excited to be coming back. We are very excited to see you in Nozawa too. To be honest Nozawa itself has not changed a great deal, in the 30 plus years I have been there it has not changed so much. One of the things I like about it 🙂 We have a new Gondola for you, as mentioned in the last post, and there are a few new restaurants about town but that same great hospitality or as Japanese […]
Olympic Gold Japan Skateboard
Olympic Gold Japan Skateboard Japan Gold on the Skateboards Japanese skaters have been dominating so far in Skateboarding’s first ever year in the Olympics. Japanese skaters won three of the six medals in Skateboarding’s Olympic premier, with Yuto Horigome, 22, and Momiji Nishiya, just 13, both taking Gold in the street competition. The Podium in the Women’s event was two skaters aged 13 and one aged 16 making it the youngest podium in history. Maybe it is a young person’s sport and I have to move on and get into Golf 🙂 Japanese snowboarders have long been well respected on the snow so great to see such young guns succeeding in the Skateboarding arena. Ganbate Nippon! If the softer landings […]
Best place to visit Japan
Best place to visit Japan Golden Week and Silver Trees in Nozawa The long Japanese holiday is in full swing and plenty of people up on the slopes taking in the last skiing of the season. The beautiful Buna trees also put on a show giving us perhaps the last “Frozen Broccoli” scene for the winter. Best place to visit Japan This the reminence of that little snow fall we had a few days ago. I am going to hazard a guess it may have been the last of the season for Nozawa but have to wait and see. So many great things to enjoy over the Green Season in Nozawa too check out this link for more info; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/summer-nozawa-green-season/ […]
Best Onsen Bath Japan
Best Onsen Bath Japan Warmer day before the next big dump in Nozawa Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 29th December 2020 Being lured into a false sense of warmth and sunshine today in Nozawa. If the forecast is correct this time tomorrow should see temps almost 15 degrees colder up top and over 50cm of fresh snow falling from the sky. A balmy 5 degrees up top at the moment and plenty of sunshine. Lots of locals taking advantage of the conditions to clear some snow from roofs in preparation of what is to come. This shot of Matsuba No Yu Onsen just a week ago after the last big dump. We can expect at least the same again! Temp at […]
