Japan Gold on the Skateboards 

Japanese skaters have been dominating so far in Skateboarding’s first ever year in the Olympics. Japanese skaters won three of the six medals in Skateboarding’s Olympic premier, with Yuto Horigome, 22, and Momiji Nishiya, just 13, both taking Gold in the street competition. 

The Podium in the Women’s event was two skaters aged 13 and one aged 16 making it the youngest podium in history. Maybe it is a young person’s sport and I have to move on and get into Golf 🙂 

Japanese snowboarders have long been well respected on the snow so great to see such young guns succeeding in the Skateboarding arena. Ganbate Nippon!

Olympics have begun in Japan

It has been a rough old road to the hosting of the 32nd Olympiad in Japan but it opened last night with a grand ceremony in Tokyo. Want them or not they are on and we really wish all the Athletes from around the world the very best.

Nozawa has a long Winter Olympic history and we had a great event here in 1998 when we hosted the Biathlon and many athletes from across the globe. It was a great vibe in the village and we were all honoured to be a part of it.

If keen to get out of the Capital at this time, Nozawa is a great rural destination to explore. Check out the Ski Museum while here and get a feeling of the Winter games.
