Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 28th of March 2019 Magic March keeps on bringing Nozawa Onsen spring snow! Powder days punctuating brilliant blue days, of course. What a spring this is turning out to be. The bonus at this time of year is that there’s plenty of powder to go around. There are typically very few people on the runs mid-week. It makes for a pretty good Thursday to be in Nozawa. There was rain in the village overnight but up on the mountain, that fall was snow. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 27th of March 2019 With more Nozawa Onsen spring snow forecast, things are looking good for the remainder of spring skiing. We may find that temperatures are slightly warm for snow at village level. However, the top of the mountain is the place to be. Up there is where snow is predicted to fall on each and every day of the coming week. It started last night with 4 centimetres a taste of what’s to come. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 26th of March 2019 Following Sunday’s day of fresh Nozawa Onsen spring snow, yesterday was a radiant sunny affair. That theme looks set to continue today. But wait! There’s snow coming! Let’s let the actual forecast illustrate that below. Let’s also remember that each and every time we’ve had snow this season, there’s been more than predicted. When we awoke to 15 cm on Sunday (and 5cm more during Monday morning) the forecast had predicted 1 cm. While we can’t guarantee that the trend will continue, we can suggest that it might. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 25th of March 2019 Anybody still unsure why they call March “magic” need only look in the direction of all the fresh snow we’ve seen. Yesterday wasn’t quite the massive sixty-centimetre dump we had earlier in the month but it was pretty awesome nonetheless. After the 15 centimetres, we awoke to, an extra five topped it up during the morning. Everyone was heading to the top of the mountain. Women, men, children, and even the big guy above. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 24th of March 2019 If Sunday is a day to be thankful then one need only look outside to know what to be thankful for today – fresh Nozawa Onsen spring snow! The official report from the top of the mountain this morning shows 15 centimetres of fresh stuff. Even the town has turned wintery white again thanks to snowfall at village level. Magic March has been turning it on for us, despite the few days of relatively ordinary weather we had earlier in the week. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 23rd March 2019 The official report shows only a single centimetre of fresh Nozawa Onsen spring snow today. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to find that it’s a bit more as even got some at village level. Either way, a dusting is better than nothing. We’ve just seen a few pretty ordinary, rainy days. Despite that, we’ve heard minimal complaints. Either our guests are too nice, fewer people around make it worthwhile, or it could just be that spring skiing is too much fun regardless. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 22nd of March 2019 Yesterday wasn’t the best day we’ve had all season. It was a bit too warm for the morning’s rain to turn into anything else. Likewise, it was a bit too windy for the gondolas. Having said that, it’s not like we haven’t been blessed with a truly Magic March this season! We’ve had many days like the one pictured above interspersed by a few sizeable dumps. It’s thanks to these big falls that the base up top is still a healthy one. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 20th March 2019 More sun on the menu for today, ladies and gents. Magic March has given us all the great ingredients of spring skiing. There’s been sun, blue sky and a liberal dose of fresh powder snow. Today is shaping up to be another beauty. Temperatures will maintain a fairly high level on the thermometer throughout today and tomorrow. Whilst today is all about sunshine, the weather around tomorrow may fall as rain. Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 16th of March, 2019 Nozawa Onsen spring keeps turning it on! Only 3 centimetres recorded up top overnight but we’ll certainly add to that. There’s light snow at village level, slowly appearing to get a bit heavier. There’s a bit more on the ever-changing forecast. Still a base of over 3 metres at this stage in the season. Things are looking good for the rest of March, April and even Golden Week in May. The resort should be open right up until the 6th of May. What’s the official word from the top of the mountain?
