Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 23rd February 2019 There’s just a dusting about this morning but it’s something. Yesterday was a glorious day on the mountain and in the village. Today might deliver us a mixed bag but a return to the sunshine is on the cards for tomorrow. As far as fresh snow goes, we’ll just have to wait. There’s not a lot on the next week’s radar but as we have learnt many times in the past, that can all change very quickly. Nozawa’s weather has a habit of turning it on when we least expect it. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 22nd February 2019 What an amazing sight it is to look out the window and see the marvellous day we’ve been gifted. Even better – the view from the top of Mount Kenashi! It’s all about sliding around under blue sky here in Nozawa Onsen today. We even got a few centimetres overnight to go with it. While we haven’t seen the snow of earlier in the month of late, days like today rival the powder days. The forecast is for nothing but sunshine throughout the rest of the day. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 20th February 2019 Today is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the weather. There’s plenty of weather around but it’s not quite cool enough to turn into snow at this point. The good news is that there appears to be some snow on the way. We may even see a bit overnight. Further ahead, there’ll be a bit of sunshine before Friday evening rolls around. Current forecasts suggest that it will snow steadily overnight and all day on Saturday. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 18th February 2019 There’s plenty of sunshine on the menu, ladies and gents. The cloud lingers but there’s plenty of blue sky to be seen. If you’re lucky, there’s bound to be a few pockets of powder left over from yesterday. It doesn’t look like we’ll see a lot of snow in the immediate future but you never know. So often, when they predict a little we get heaps and when they predict none we get some. We’ll just have to wait and see, enjoying the sunshine as we go. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 16th February 2019 It was just a dusting that we received overnight but still something. We’ve been having a pretty good time of things lately so any more is a bonus. There’s a bit around this morning which the forecast says will amount to a handful more falling steadily throughout the day and night. Tomorrow we might see a little bit but it’s mostly sunshine on the forecast for the beginning of next week. As mentioned, we have seen quite a bit fall recently so blue skies and sunshine is not a bad result. It should make for a great time to be out and about in the village and sliding down Mount Kenashi. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 15th February 2019 For those who go it alone, reject the commercialism or simply forgot, yesterday was Valentine’s Day. In Nozawa Onsen, however, it was a day for snow lovers. In line with the consistent theme, we received far more snow than forecast. In fact, it snowed throughout the day. It all ensured yet another epic February day on Mount Kenashi. Today we awoke to a 5-centimetre top-up and some sunshine. We should enjoy a fairly clear day today. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 14th February 2019 Another day in the village brings more Nozawa Onsen snow. February keeps on giving and we’re readily accepting by heading to the mountain. We got a casual 11 centimetres of fresh stuff overnight (up until 8 am) but it’s been snowing steadily all morning. The forecast seems to reckon we’ll be seeing a bit of sunshine tomorrow. Saturday will then bring back the snow before some more sunny days to follow that. As we well know, however, things can change. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 13th February 2019 This is the season that keeps on giving. We’ve been blessed here in Nozawa with copious amounts of snow over the past few days. A monster January was followed by a relatively dry spell during the first bit of February. That is now but a memory as winter has made its powdery return. Yesterday we woke up to a fresh 25cm followed by a morning where the dumping didn’t stop until the afternoon. We then got a further 10cm last night. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 12th February 2019 This season keeps on delivering! After a pretty amazing January, we had a relaxed start to February. But as we’ve seen over the past handful of days, winter has firmly returned. Today is another epic one in Nozawa Onsen. We had another 25 centimetres overnight and it hasn’t looked like stopping all morning. It continues to snow heavily as (at 11:20 am) and there’s plenty more on the forecast. Present estimates suggest we may see some sun on Friday morning but other than that, we’ve got powder coming our way for the foreseeable future. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 11th February 2019 What an epic day it was yesterday! From close Saturday to close Sunday, we saw well over half a metre of fresh snow. The base is now way back up over three metres. The even better news to go with all of that is there’s more on the way. While there’s snow of some measure forecast to fall on each day of the week to come, tomorrow night looks the most promising. So what exactly is the top of Mount Kenashi looking like right now?
