Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 27th January 2019 It seems as though the mountains of snow which were forecast to fall overnight came a little early. We saw in excess of 60 centimetres fall between open and close yesterday, with only 25 centimetres overnight. Of course, we’d be hard to please being disappointed about 25 cm. To be fair, it was quite windy overnight which may mean there are larger pockets around, so stay safe. Looking ahead, we still have some pretty big days coming our way very soon. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 26th January 2019 Today, whether it’s Australia Day or whatever you’re deciding to call it, is a day of celebration in Nozawa Onsen. Why are we celebrating? Could it be all the white stuff falling from the sky all morning? Or could it be the forecast promising monstrous things to come? Perhaps it’s both. A few of the bars around town will no doubt be celebrating Australia Day for those who are keen (Stay Bar being one of them). We had a comparatively modest 14 centimetres fall up top overnight. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 25th January 2019 We’ve seen a bit of a reoccurring trend this season. Basically, whatever the forecast says, we’ll get more. Yesterday, we got double and ended up with over 60 centimetres. There’s said to be another 70 centimetres or so tonight so if that trend continues then who knows what we’ll end up with. Let’s just go with “quite a bit” at the moment. The current forecast suggests we’ll start to get a bit more later today before the onslaught of tomorrow. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 24th January 2019 Remember the slow start we had to this season? No, me either. It’s a long distant memory now smothered in metres of snow. A reported 40 centimetres fell up top overnight. While that sounds pretty epic in itself, there’s still plenty more to come over the next week. The powder just keeps coming! We’re forecast to get a few centimetres more over the course of today. Tomorrow should see a respite in the morning before it truly kicks off in the evening. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 21st January 2019 The official count is 35 centimetres of fresh snow at the top of Mount Kenashi overnight. To be fair though, it sure feels like more than that. Either way, there’s a fair bit in it for powder lovers today. To put the icing on that already sugary cake, there’s heaps more to come, according to the forecasters. There’s snow of some measure scheduled well into the coming week and beyond. At least four double-digit falls have been forecast to fall before next weekend and it doesn’t really look like easing too much after that. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 19th January 2019 Blue sky in Nozawa today, ladies and gents. It complements the 20 centimetres we had overnight quite well indeed! It looks as though today might be the only blue we see for a bit. There’s somewhere around the 1.5 metre-mark predicted to fall during the next week. If recent forecasting stays true, that could well turn into a lot more. Good times! What’s the mountain looking like today? It’s clear skies and amazing views right now with the odd snow shower predicted for the top of the mountain a bit later into the afternoon. A Foot and Falling, Nozawa Snow Report, 18/1/2019 Isn’t great to wake up to days like this? We’ve seen that magic foot overnight and it’s still falling. Giving white fluffy clouds an extra silver lining is what’s to come. The forecasters predict much of the same for most of the week to come. There could be a little bit of respite tomorrow but after that, the future looks bathed in white. Sunday night and all day Tuesday look like they could be on the epic side of life. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 17th January 2019 Just the tiniest amount up top overnight but one centimetre is way better than no centimetres, right? The sun is currently in the process of forcing the clouds aside and blue sky behind is brilliant. It looks like it should be a cracker of a day on the mountain. But I know you didn’t come to this page to read about sunshine for too long. Lucky that those blue skies will give way to the good stuff this evening.
