Sun & Snow, Nozawa Onsen. Snow Report 10th of January 2019 Life’s all about sun & snow in Nozawa Onsen today. We had quite a bit to wake up to yesterday. In fact, Tuesday evening’s dump was the largest of the season thus far. It looks as though we may get a bit of respite in the coming few days. A few small centimetres fell last night and we may get another top-up tonight. Then it’s all about blue skies and sunshine for the weekend through Monday. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 7th January 2019 It’s not quite Groundhog Day just yet but today feels a little like yesterday if only because of the 20 centimetres of fresh snow we’ve been gifted up top. Again a lot more snow fell upon Mount Kenashi than was forecast. Not that we’re complaining, of course! It does make us continue to ponder what might happen tomorrow night, though. Right now, the forecast for Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning is well into double-digits and then some. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 6th January 2019 The mountain has been blessed with in excess of 20 centimetres of fresh snow overnight. It seems that each time the forecast says some, we get heaps. This makes us wonder what the heaps forecast for Tuesday night will turn into. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. At present, we’re forecast to get some light snow throughout today and most of tomorrow before it all kicks off sometime during the second half of Tuesday. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 5th January 2019 The image above does its best to illustrate what an awesome day on the mountain it was yesterday. As we well know, however, being here does a better job. After being blessed with a tonne of snow over a few short days, yesterday was all about sunshine and blue skies. Fresh snow and sunshine is a tough combo to top but let’s look ahead and see what we can do. The forecast for this week is showing more fresh snow is coming our way. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 3rd January 2019 Another Magic Foot overnight, ladies and gents. Or 35cm for those who like our measurements metric and exact. We don’t need to tell you much more about that. We could add that it continues to snow heavily this morning (as of 8 am). All in all, it’s shaping up to be an epic day. The weatherperson is suggesting we’ll have the snow shovels out all day in the village. Tomorrow is expected to clear a little. Blue skies above a white mountain will see another awesome Nozawa day. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 2nd January 2019 New Year’s Day was a great day to wander the village or be up on the mountain. Today is even better thanks to the fresh 25cm overnight. There is even more snow on the short-term radar too. That should keep us topped-up for the week to come. It’s still snowing here in the village this morning, as it has been since we all awoke. The forecast has Friday shaping up to be a cracker with sunshine the dominant order of the day. Each other day of the week ahead has snow of some amount forecast. Nozawa Snow Report New Year’s Day 2019 New Year’s Resolution; Ski more, stress less! Those of us who managed to stay awake until midnight witnessed a great fireworks display over the Nagasaka slope last night.  We happy to report that the action looks set to remain on the slopes into 2019. Current forecasting has a double-digit dump coming our way tonight. Tomorrow and Thursday should see even more snowfall before Friday brings the sun. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report NYE 2018 Wishing You A Snow-Filled New Year! Late 2018 may have been just a little slow in coming to the party, snow-wise, but it has surely made up for it right at the death. The past few days have been epic with heavy dumping more often than not. The forecast reckons it might ease a little today to allow us to watch the NYE 2018 fireworks beneath a somewhat clearer sky tonight. Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 29th December 2018 Fresh Snow Continues To Fall and Fall… As mentioned yesterday, we had what we might call a late start to the season. That’s all totally forgotten about now though! After the 35cm fall we awoke to yesterday, followed by the 30cm during the day, it has snowed some more. Right now, as of 9 am today, it continues to snow heavily, both on the mountain and in the village. Winter has certainly returned ladies and gents!
